Brand-Rex Partner BAM Infratechniek Telecom has won a prestigious project to supply a 10GPlus Augmented Category 6 Copper and FibrePlus Optical Cabling infrastructure for the new Danone R&D Centre in Utrecht Science Park.  A world leader in dairy products, Groupe Danone invests almost £180 million in R&D alone each year

The new 20,000 m2 centre will consolidate operations in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK into one state-of-the-art R&D centre specialising in human nutrition and physiology, milk and milk products, cultures, probiotics and microbiota, prebiotics, water science, food and technology.

In excess of 2000 outlets will be installed using over 100km of Brand-Rex 10GPlus Augmented Category 6 S/FTP cable and 700m of FibrePlus OM3 Optical Fibre will be utilised for the building backbone.

Karel de Bruijn, Project Manager at BAM Infratechniek Telecom said “The state of the art R&D facility coupled with the need for new improved office space called for a high end cabling system. Brand-Rex proved its reliable, innovative and cost effective 10GPlus solution, supplied by Dutch Distribution Partner, Kannegieter, was the perfect solution to meet the needs of this demanding environment.”

The centre main office section, designed by Cepezed, has already been awarded the BREEAM-EXCELLENT design certificate.  BREEAM sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building design, construction and operation and has become one of the most comprehensive and widely recognised measures of a building’s environmental performance. It encourages designers, clients and others to think about low carbon and low impact design, minimising the energy demands created by a building before considering energy efficiency and low carbon technologies.

The project is scheduled for completion mid 2013.
